On Saturday, American forces seized another oil tanker from Venezuela. In a pre-dawn operation on Saturday, the US Coast Guard seized the Panama-flagged vessel, Centuries. According to US officials, the seizure followed the same strategy as the previous confiscation of a tanker near Venezuela.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly stated that this vessel was "a falsely registered ship operating as part of Venezuela’s 'dark fleet' to transport stolen oil and fund the Maduro narco-terrorist regime." Predictably, the Venezuelan government reacted with fury, denouncing the US for a "serious act of piracy" and maintaining that the colonial model the US is trying to impose will fail and be defeated by the people of Venezuela.
Tension is rising, with the US continuing its offensive actions. On Sunday, it was reported that American forces were chasing another tanker off the coast of Venezuela shortly after the seizure of the previous ship. The situation is becoming increasingly hazardous, and the possibility of action from Venezuela is more likely, with its fleet escorting tankers from its ports. If the US attempts to seize another ship, it could lead to a direct conflict with the Venezuelan Navy.

Venezuela is the largest oil supplier for Cuba, covering approximately 40% of its needs. If this supply is cut off, the consequences for the Cuban economy may be catastrophic. Economists warn that the interruption of oil flow from Venezuela could trigger a complete collapse of the Cuban economy.
