According to information, the Turkish UAV moved in the area between Samothraki and Lemnos, triggering an immediate response from the Hellenic Air Force. A pair of Greek F-16 fighter jets scrambled, executing standard procedures for identification and airborne interception. The new incident comes just hours after the Turkish Defense Ministry warned against the potential establishment of a UAV base on Rhodes, which Ankara described as a threat to "peace and stability in the Aegean." At the same time, the Turkish side spoke of taking "necessary measures," adding another chapter to a series of moves causing intense concern in Athens. In Turkey's announcement, it is emphasized that Turkey "will continue to decisively protect its rights and interests stemming from international treaties and take necessary measures accordingly," adding that "any attempt to violate this status is incompatible with Greece's obligations under international law." Against this backdrop, the Turkish Defense Ministry characterized the decision to relocate Patriot missile systems from Karpathos to Crete as a "positive step."
