As the Ukrainians themselves admit, their air defense failed to shoot down a single one of the Oniks anti-ship missiles or the Iskander-M, Kinzhal, and Zircon ballistic missiles.
The result was that Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and other Ukrainian cities endured a night of hell, and absolutely critical locations for the Ukrainian military were destroyed.

Night of hell
On the night of September 22, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a combined attack with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles across the territory of Ukraine.
According to information from Ukrainian monitoring sources, the attack utilized Banderol and Geran unmanned aerial vehicles of various modifications, as well as Kh-23, Zircon, Oniks-M, Kalibr, and Iskander-M missiles.
Launches were conducted from land, sea, and air platforms.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that during the night, using high-precision weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles, enterprises of the metallurgical and chemical industries, fuel and energy sector facilities, military-industrial complex sites, and Ukrainian port infrastructure in Kyiv and in the regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Odesa were struck.
Vessels utilized for the benefit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were also hit.
Tsunami... of Zircon
Concurrently, Russia launched a combined attack against industrial enterprises in three cities of the Dnipropetrovsk region: Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense of Russia, hypersonic Zircon missiles were also utilized in this airstrike.
«The Zircon missiles from the sea brought a tsunami and a whirlwind upon the enemy», stated an announcement from the ministry on the Max platform.
According to posts on public channels, two Zircon missiles and one KN-23 were used against Dnipro, two Zircon and two KN-23 against Pavlohrad, while two Zircon, one KN-23, and five Kalibr missiles were launched against Kryvyi Rih.
In Dnipro, four people were killed and six were injured.
Two of the injured are hospitalized, with a 25-year-old man in serious condition.
People may still remain trapped under the rubble of the damaged enterprise.
In Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad, fires also broke out following the strikes.
No answer
As announced by the Air Force of Ukraine, on the night of September 22 (from 18:00 on September 21), the adversary attacked with:
• Oniks anti-ship missiles from the Rostov region of Russia,
• Iskander-M / S-400 / KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Kursk, Rostov, and Voronezh regions of Russia,
• 4 sea-launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea,
• 8 Banderol / Dan-T from the airspace of the Belgorod region of Russia,
• 212 strike UAV platforms of the Shahed type (including jet-powered variants) as well as Parodiya decoy drones, from the directions of Oryol, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from the territories of Donetsk and from Hvardiiske and Chauda in Crimea.
The primary vectors of the attack were the regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, and Poltava.
According to preliminary data, by 08:00 Ukrainian air defense had shot down or neutralized 186 targets:
• 1 Kalibr cruise missile,
• 8 Banderol / Dan-T,
• 177 Shahed, Gerbera, and other drone types.
Strikes by enemy missiles and strike UAV systems were recorded across 22 locations, along with fallen downed aerial targets or their debris across 4 locations.
Consequences of the attack
Explosions were heard in Kyiv, in Odesa, and in several regional administrative centers.
Among the facilities reported struck were the metallurgical complex of Kryvyi Rih, the chemical plant of Pavlohrad, the Kremenchuk oil refinery, as well as an industrial facility in the eastern sector of Dnipropetrovsk.
The Russian Ministry of Defense maintains that in Kremenchuk the oil refinery and the JTI Ukraine tobacco factory, which Moscow accuses of manufacturing ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were hit.
It is also reported that they struck an enterprise in Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region that produced warheads and missile propellant components for ballistic missiles.
Tactics of successive attack waves
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a tactic of successive attack waves was employed.
Coordinator of the pro-Russian underground network Sergey Lebedev wrote on his Telegram channel that four Kinzhal aero-ballistic missiles struck the targets first.
Following this sequence of strikes, the arrival of Kalibr cruise missiles was anticipated, which at that moment were already en route toward Ukrainian territory.
«In this manner, the Kinzhal missiles constituted one of the initial phases of the night missile strike, after which the next wave utilizing cruise missiles was scheduled to follow».
Attack with Geran-4
In the Usatove area of the Odesa region, several Geran-4 UAV systems attacked a storage installation once again.
Another series of strikes occurred in the port area of Odesa.
Furthermore, Russian UAV platforms reportedly carried out attacks against vessels in the western part of the Black Sea, claims Sergey Lebedev.
The town of Brovary, near Kyiv, was left without electrical power.
In the Vinnytsia region, according to the same information, an ammunition depot of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was destroyed.
Daily strikes across Ukraine
Ukraine must prepare for the prospect that Russian attacks could become daily occurrences, stated Russian reserve lieutenant colonel, advisor to the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences, and doctor of historical sciences Oleg Ivannikov.
«Kyiv will be forced to pay a very heavy price for terrorist activity against Russian statehood», he stated, adding that the volume of Ukrainian strikes on Russian soil will decrease noticeably.
Flamingo production facility in Kyiv reduced to ash
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation struck an enterprise in Kyiv that manufactured components and warheads for long-range Flamingo cruise missiles, according to an announcement from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
«As a result of the strike, an industrial enterprise (the company Fire Point) was hit in the city of Kyiv, which produced components and warheads for FP-5 Flamingo long-range cruise missiles», the statement notes.

Destruction and casualties
From the bombardment in Kyiv, injuries have been reported, while fires broke out as well.

In the Dniprovskyi district, debris fell on a five-story residential building.

In total, four individuals were injured, three of whom are hospitalized.
In the Darnytskyi district, debris fell onto the grounds of a private residence.
Port infrastructure hit in Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Poltava
The Russian military, within the scope of a massive night attack, struck port infrastructure facilities utilized for the benefit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
«Port infrastructure facilities of Ukraine were struck in the regions of Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Odesa, which were being utilized for the benefit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine», the statement said.
Maritime vessels utilized for the benefit of Ukrainian armed forces were also targeted.
It is likewise reported that the Russian Armed Forces struck two logistics centers in Odesa and one logistics hub of Nova Poshta in Chornomorsk (formerly Illichivsk), where cargo for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was stored and distributed.
Target: 3 radar stations in Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa

Attack on three logistics centers in Dnipropetrovsk
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation struck three logistics centers of Sirius Extrusion in Dnipropetrovsk, where cargo intended for supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine was stored, announced the Russian Ministry of Defense.
«As a result of the attack, three logistics centers of Sirius Extrusion were struck in the city of Dnipropetrovsk, which were used for the storage and distribution of supplies intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine», the announcement notes.
Metallurgical complex in Kryvyi Rih turned to dust
Concurrently, it is reported that the Russian military, during the massive night attack, struck a metallurgical complex in Kryvyi Rih that manufactured products for military use.
Furthermore, in Dnipropetrovsk, the pipe manufacturing plant Interpipe Steel was hit, which, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, «is a manufacturer and supplier of rolled metal products for the fabrication of components (airframes, propulsion systems, wings, and other elements) for long-range UAV systems».
