Bombshell briefing at the Maximos Mansion: Mitsotakis escape plan from the OPEKEPE scandal with an electoral ambush within 2026

Bombshell briefing at the Maximos Mansion: Mitsotakis escape plan from the OPEKEPE scandal with an electoral ambush within 2026
Pressure is mounting on Alexis Tsipras to bring his plans forward and not wait until the Spring of 2026.

The Prime Minister takes every opportunity to make clear that he will act institutionally and that he will set up the ballot boxes in the Spring of 2027.
And it may indeed be what is on his mind.
But according to information, Kyriakos Mitsotakis has already received a briefing urging him to spring a surprise by calling elections no later than the Spring of 2026.
This escape plan for the government and the prime minister is based on one fact which, if confirmed, will in any case lead to the political end of the current government. And this is none other than the scenarios that bring the European Prosecutor to directly press charges against ND ministers and MPs who will be included in the new OPEKEPE case file.
A case file that has already been delayed and from the moment Parliament closes for the holiday recess, we will be talking about the file reaching into 2026.

What will happen with the declared majority

If the information is confirmed regarding the involvement of individuals that would in essence lead to a moral dilemma over the loss of the declared parliamentary majority, should their immunity be lifted, the recommendation made to Mitsotakis is to proceed immediately to elections.
In this way he would achieve two things. First, he would attempt to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. That is, to present himself as someone who tolerates no wrongdoing, as a champion of transparency, and as someone who does not intend to remain in power with MPs who are accountable to justice. For this reason he would seek recourse to the ballot box.

Will there be statutes of limitation?

Behind this, however, lies the statute of limitations for offenses of those involved in various cases, such as OPEKEPE, as well as the card of surprise, since neither Tsipras’ party nor Karystianou’s party would be ready, if the latter ultimately intends to take the next step.
This is what is being recommended to Mitsotakis, as they believe that time is no longer working in favor of the government and that the last opportunity is now, before his political opponents get organized.
This is the central scenario, if and insofar as the information is confirmed that there will be prosecutions of ministers and MPs by the European Prosecutor’s Office, in order to bypass the obstacle of the Greek Constitution, which protects ministers.

The ND congress as a pretext

This is also the reason why Mitsotakis has put the ND party mechanism on alert on the occasion of the congress, but the real reason is that he wants it to be in a state of readiness to deal with a potential “accident.”
As officials at the Maximos Mansion were emphasizing, the government’s planning is in any case front loaded so that many measures, such as pension increases, begin this month, while in various bills “favors” are being passed that support the planning. Such was the provision that shifts obligations to the Spring regarding the payment of rents through bank accounts or the obligation to declare elevators, or other crafty provisions.
At the same time, the clock is counting down for General Secretaries who want to enter politics and within a few days they must do so and hand over to their replacements.

Pressure on Alexis Tsipras

It is not accidental, in any case, that veterans of electoral maneuvering are pressuring Alexis Tsipras to bring his plans forward and not wait until the Spring of 2026, because by then valuable time may have been lost and he may not have time to make the moves he needs. The same naturally applies to Karystianou’s party, which also lacks experience in setting up a party and candidates across the country.
Already the former prime minister has dropped some hints about accelerating his moves and at the beginning of the year we may see some of his actions coming sooner. A number of SYRIZA MPs are in any case ready to announce their decisions and move to Tsipras’ party, so that they can also begin television appearances in their new role.
The condition Tsipras has nevertheless set for all interested parties is that they hand over their parliamentary seats before joining the party.
