A close and regular contact between the two leaders?
It would be, were it not for the completely unusual reaction of Zelensky.
He literally exploded, unleashing a barrage of accusations against the Americans.
What enraged Zelensky?
The fact was that a brief statement by Putin himself, just three paragraphs, had appeared on the Kremlin website.
It outlined the topics of discussion: the prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis, the situation around Iran, and various aspects of bilateral relations.
The third paragraph detailed the agreement to continue contacts between the two leaders, as well as their administrations and their intelligence services.
But in between, in the middle of the statement, there was something that acquired critical significance, and not only for Trump.
«During the discussion on the situation in the global energy sector, the Russian side confirmed its readiness to supply oil and petroleum products to the American and global markets.
I am confident that this will have a positive impact on the entire global economy».
Trump revealed the details of the agreement: in his statement, he detailed how much diesel Russia would supply to global and American markets in the coming months, approximately 4.8 million tons, and how, as a result, diesel prices for Americans would begin to collapse to historic lows.
Trump did not even mention other topics of discussion (he simply repeated his motto that «Iran will not have nuclear weapons»), as the midterm elections are less than a month away and he wants to show Americans how much he cares about lowering diesel prices.
He even brought Russia into the picture, he even lifted sanctions on Russian diesel supplies for six months!
Because reducing prices for Americans is his «top priority».
Zelensky unleashed furious attacks
Trump has repeatedly claimed that the increase in diesel prices is not due to the situation in Hormuz, but to Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries, essentially blaming Zelensky.
