In a New Year's address that caused a geopolitical earthquake, the Deputy Chairman of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, Tomio Okamura, launched a fierce attack against Ukrainian authorities and the continuation of armaments. The Czech politician spoke out in harsh terms against sending weapons, emphasizing that it is inconceivable to support a "completely irrational war" with money deprived from Czech pensioners, people with disabilities, and families with children. Tomio Okamura called on the Czech Republic to stop financing foreigners just because war propaganda dictates it, warning that the country must abandon the "Brussels train" that is leading headlong toward World War III.
Allegations of "golden toilets" and corrupt officials
Tomio Okamura did not hesitate to use very heavy language regarding Zelensky's leadership, speaking of a "green junta" and "Ukrainian thieves" who are building golden toilets with Western aid money. According to him, the money flows are directed in all directions so that Western companies and corrupt officials can profiteer, while the Czech Republic is forced to buy ineffective weapons that the Russians destroy before they even reach the front. "Let them steal, but not from our own pockets," he stated characteristically, adding that such a country has no place in the European Union.
Diplomatic conflict and Prague’s retreat
These statements provoked an angry reaction from the Ukrainian Ambassador in Prague, Vasyl Zvarych, who accused Tomio Okamura of adopting Russian propaganda and using offensive hate speech. However, the climate in the Czech Republic seems to be changing radically, as Prime Minister Andrej Babis has already announced a review of Prague’s initiative to purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine. The internal political scene in the Czech Republic is simmering, with the questioning of the Kyiv regime now taking on the dimensions of an official political rift.
