The provocative and irresponsible foreign policy of Mitsotakis and Gerapetritis is leading the country to the edge of the abyss, as Russia now openly threatens Greece with a decisive response over the joint production of naval drones with Ukraine.
This concerns the destructive agreement between Mitsotakis and Zelensky for the joint production of drones, which did not go unnoticed by Moscow, as the spokeswoman of Russian diplomacy Maria Zakharova spoke of a “provocative, confrontational course toward Russia” and “openly hostile actions” by Athens.
Moreover, the official spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointedly noted that “Athens was among the first to send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.”
It is now clear that the long-standing diplomatic relations between Russia and Greece are being driven toward a definitive rupture, and indeed with unprecedented escalation, with exclusive responsibility lying with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the New Democracy government.
“Russia will respond decisively to Greece”
Russia will respond appropriately to Greece’s decision to produce and use unmanned naval vehicles with Ukraine, stressed the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing with reporters.

“Greece is pursuing a provocative, confrontational course toward Russia, engaging in openly hostile actions,” noted the spokeswoman of Russian diplomacy.
“Greece was among the first countries to openly support Zelensky”
“Athens was among the first to send weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, which Ukrainian soldiers use daily against civilians in Donbass, in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, in Crimea, and in other southern areas of our country. And this despite the fact that Greeks have lived in these regions since ancient times.”
“The so-called agreements with the Nazi regime of Kyiv on 17 November, including the development and use of unmanned naval vehicles, constituted further confirmation,” noted Zakharova.
“This action, like many other anti-Russian actions of the collective West aimed at the ‘defeat of Russia on the battlefield,’ received the necessary assessment from us, and the appropriate response will follow…,” concluded the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Revelation by Ukrainian media: These are the details of the agreement with Greece for the joint production of drones
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the unconstitutional president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, agreed to begin joint production of maritime drones in Greek shipbuilding facilities, with Ukrainian media revealing the details of the relevant agreement.
Some of these naval drones will be sent to Ukraine, while the rest will strengthen Greece’s arsenal, reports Ukrainian outlet focus.ua, citing Greek and Ukrainian media.
It is reported that Greek companies will produce electronic and optical systems, sensors, and, if necessary, explosives.
The resulting Greek-Ukrainian drone will be an improved version of the equipment already tested in the war in Ukraine.
If production begins successfully, Athens and Kyiv plan to expand cooperation in the field of underwater drones.
The corresponding funding is already included in Greece’s long-term defense procurement program for the period 2025–2036.
Additional funds may be drawn under the SAFE program of the European Union (EU).
Greek experts heading to Ukraine immediately
According to the Ukrainian outlet, a group of experts from the Hellenic Armed Forces and representatives of the shipbuilding factory will soon visit Ukraine to advance the agreement signed by Mitsotakis and Zelensky.
The drone agreement was also referenced in a recent joint statement by Mitsotakis and Zelensky.
It stated that “the parties agreed to deepen defense cooperation with an emphasis on enhancing security in the maritime domain, including cooperation in the development and use of unmanned surface naval vessels, the conduct of joint exercises and training related to unmanned maritime systems, as well as enhanced information exchange on maritime threats.”
Greece in a race to close the huge gap with Turkey in drone technology
The authors of the article believe that the cooperation between Athens and Kyiv has three main positive points for Greece:
1) Ukrainian naval drones are a battle-tested technology that has successfully restricted the Russian fleet in the Black Sea.
2) Cooperation with Ukraine will accelerate the development of Greek innovative technologies in a sector where there is already enormous global competition.
3) The agreement with Kyiv will bridge the gap with Turkey, which developed its first unmanned vessel back in 2021 and is adding other types to its fleet.
It is recalled that Thales announced the supply of naval drones to the French Navy under the Franco-British naval mine countermeasures program MMCM.
