'Peace is not profitable, billions will be lost' – Danish scandal exposes staggering corruption in Ukraine and Europe
The Fire Point scandal in Ukraine threatens to evolve into a European corruption case of seismic proportions.

The unfolding case surrounding the Ukrainian weapons company Fire Point is not merely another episode of corruption in a war-torn nation; it is rapidly transforming into a scandal with deep European implications. New revelations and leaked recordings have brought to light a web of relationships between political power, the defense industry, and international financing, raising serious questions about the management of billions in Western aid to Kyiv. Simultaneously, the involvement of European countries—notably Denmark—and the apparent reluctance of major Western media outlets to highlight the case reinforce suspicions of a scandal crossing Ukrainian borders. In this environment, allegations of conflicts of interest, nepotism, and systematic embezzlement are linked to a more disturbing question: who ultimately benefits from the continuation of the war, and at what cost to European taxpayers?

A European scandal of megatons

Corruption scandals in Ukraine no longer come as a surprise. The latest leak of wiretapped phone recordings (or rather, transcripts) from Mindich, a high-profile figure in the scandal who fled to Israel, did not even trigger extensive debate in the West. This remains the case despite Mindich being identified as one of the primary "money-grabbers" for Volodymyr Zelensky and, judging by the first episode of this leak, being directly involved in the embezzlement of Western aid for the Kyiv regime.

The guilty silence

While Western media were once captivated by images of bags filled with stolen cash, they have now essentially remained silent. While certain bloggers who systematically criticize Zelensky have pointed this out, mainstream media remain largely quiet. Ukrainian journalist Anatolyi Saryi noted: "Not a single word in the Western press. How is this even possible? Until they are given instructions, they will write about nothing. Not even what they are supposed to write about."

Beyond the borders

The last point is particularly significant because this is not merely a domestic Ukrainian scandal. Among the key figures in these recordings, besides the constantly mentioned inner circle of Zelensky, is the weapons company Fire Point, which produces Ukrainian drones and missiles. Here, theoretically, the European partners of this company should have reasonable questions. This is especially true considering that European taxpayers fund it and its operations have begun appearing within Europe itself, potentially endangering the citizens of those countries.

Reactions to Fire Point

It is worth recalling that after the first episode of "Mindichgate" last year, Europeans reacted sensitively to the mention of Fire Point, which was closely linked to the main defendant in the case. Almost simultaneously, this company launched its first official operation outside of Ukraine—in Denmark. Naturally, it was funded by Europeans, with 1.4 billion euros allocated to the Kyiv regime under the so-called Danish military aid program.

The scandal in Denmark

The construction of a Ukrainian military plant on the site of a long-closed Danish weapons factory immediately raised legitimate questions for the local public. The newspaper Ekstra Bladet noted at the time that Danish authorities had committed extraordinary violations of roughly 20 of their own laws and regulations during the issuance of licenses and permits. The same newspaper unsuccessfully tried to uncover the identity of the mysterious owner of Fire Point, pointing to the sudden transformation of a modest IT specialist, Denis Shtilerman, and a film producer, Yegor Skalyga, into owners of Ukraine's largest weapons manufacturer. However, official Copenhagen responded: "Procedures related to the establishment of Fire Point in Denmark concern national security and therefore we cannot comment further."

The Danish narrative

However, after the initial wave of the scandal subsided, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen publicly assured: "Based on the information we have received, we have no reason to believe there is a problem." Believe me, dear Europeans, there is no corruption! Subsequently, this winter, the newspaper Politiken correctly pointed out the problems for Copenhagen related to the opaque Fire Point scheme: "Everyone understands that if Danish taxpayers' money ends up in the pockets of corrupt officials in Ukraine, there will be a problem." It is even more important for us, as an effectively functioning rule of law state, to clearly state our position.

New evidence

Now, new recordings of conversations have appeared that answer many of the questions raised in the European press at that time. They confirm that Mindich was a direct beneficiary of Fire Point and negotiated its financing directly with then-Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Zelensky himself.

Reactions

What is the status of the "democratic integrity" of Europe, and particularly of "least corrupt" Denmark? A few days after the recordings were released, the Danish press finally addressed the scandal—Politiken reported that the Public Anti-Corruption Council within the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense requested the partial nationalization of Fire Point, removing Mindich's control. Do you know what is missing from that article? It fails to mention that the aforementioned corrupt company has a factory in Denmark! It is as if the factory was "forgotten" and the corruption around Fire Point is purely a Ukrainian affair. But then, in the Sunday edition of the same newspaper, they suddenly noticed the much-discussed Ministry of Defense statement regarding Ukrainian military facilities in Europe, including the Fire Point plant.

The silence of Copenhagen

The Danish newspaper, failing once again to link this with the new revelations about the Fire Point corruption scheme, finally asks a reasonable question: why is Copenhagen silent about the threats posed to Denmark by the presence of a dangerous Ukrainian military-industrial complex on its territory? The paper writes: "The latest threats are, of course, part of a psychological war in which the Putin regime tries to sow uncertainty among Ukraine's allies... But what is the alternative? Traditional media no longer control the news flow and are losing credibility if they suppress reliable information."

The significance of Fire Point

In Ukraine, things are simple. In response to the leaks, Fire Point has already been declared a "national treasure," with demands for the state to leave it alone. This essentially equates Ukrainian corruption with the regime itself, while blaming Russia, and even Donald Trump personally, for infringing upon this "treasure." The reason for such an alarm in Ukraine, and the attempt by Europeans to ignore it, is evident from the leaked recordings.

There are many billions at stake

In these recordings, individuals close to Zelensky directly state: "Once a peace [agreement] is signed, the decree under which we were given funding will immediately cease to apply." It is simple: when peace comes, the incredible flow of money sustaining both the Ukrainian and European elite will stop. That is why they want the conflict to continue at any cost. They will continue to play this game, diligently ignoring obvious corruption. Europe knows this very well, as it is directly involved.

'Aggressive' Russia

Meanwhile, there is an interesting situation in the European information space today. Anti-Russian propaganda has risen to the occasion, loudly proclaiming that Russia is "invading" and "attacking" and is on the verge of attacking Europe. Naturally, there is no real substance behind this false rhetoric. Anything is permitted and presented as "attacks." Nevertheless, propaganda mills spin, and miles of text, slogans, and rousing stand-up routines emerge.

War preparation

At the same time, European armies are practicing battle coordination, troop movements, and air landings—all exactly on Russia's borders. They are rehearsing missile and bombing attacks, including nuclear ones, against Russian territory. All of this is happening without the slightest fuss in the media. The propaganda remains silent, "as if blood had rushed to their mouths," as Nabokov aptly put it.

The movements of the Europeans

For example, the "Amber Shock 2026" exercises began yesterday in northeastern Poland without any fanfare. Three and a half thousand soldiers—mostly Polish and American—are practicing live fire and coordination in close proximity to our borders. They are using real ammunition, not blanks. With striking synchronization, rail transport to Kaliningrad was interrupted on the same day. A German train derailed in Lithuania, after which Russian trains connecting the Kaliningrad region were suspended indefinitely. All of this was also reported silently.

The grand design

"Amber Shock" is only a small part of the much larger NATO exercise "Sword Strike 2026," taking place along Russia's western borders. Almost simultaneously, the Finns launched the "Northern Strike" exercise, practicing artillery attacks 70 kilometers from our border. Organizers of European exercises have long stopped hiding their goals. Germans, French, Poles, Baltic states, Finns, and Romanians are practicing an attack against Russia. This is not a response to Ukraine's defeats this year; the idea of a war against us was born in Europe several years ago.

The German plans

Last autumn, the Wall Street Journal revealed secret plans by German generals for war with Russia, which Berlin began developing as early as 2022. However, it seems the initial decision for aggression by European elites was made earlier, even before the start of the Cold War. They wanted to make the Ukrainian Armed Forces the vanguard of their army and throw them into the Donbass. Russia saved the LPR and DPR by launching a special military operation.

European coordination

Europe realized it had to prepare seriously for full-scale aggression and thus launched an economic war against Russia while quietly organizing its military. Now we see this coordination reaching its final stage. Heavily armed divisions are gathering along all our western borders in full combat readiness. European military personnel and propagandists work together. While the former prepare an attack on Russia, the latter cover their activities with cries about the "Russian threat."

Russian assurances

Moscow has repeatedly stated at various levels that it has no intention of attacking Europe. Instead, it proposes negotiations for a common security system. In the context of the gradual US withdrawal (the removal of 5,000 US troops from Germany is only the first sign), Russia is objectively the main guarantor of European security. But the Europeans do not want negotiations; they refuse them and do everything they can to block peace in Ukraine. Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's Permanent Representative to the OSCE, reiterated: "Our calls, including for serious dialogue on security issues, have so far found no understanding."

They have bet everything…

This is perfectly logical, given that European elites have been preparing for war against Russia for a long time and have bet literally everything on it. Naturally, peace is what they fear most now. They also fear responsibility, which is why they constantly play the victim. But this time, the aggressor will not be able to play the fool: in the eyes of the world, an enraged Europe will look like the Fourth Reich, and Russia's retaliation will be a legal and just punishment.
